These are two Venezuelan nationals, who since the end of 2021 settled in Maule in order to commit various crimes linked to organized crime.
The Maule Regional Prosecutor’s Office obtained this Monday the 50-year prison sentence for two subjects belonging to the Aragua Train, who were prosecuted for the crimes of homicide and kidnapping, crimes committed in the city of Talca.
According to the Public Ministry, these are two individuals of Venezuelan nationality, active members of the dangerous criminal group, who since 2021 settled in the capital of Maule to perpetrate various crimes linked to organized crime, such as drug trafficking, kidnapping, homicides, violent robberies and illegal carrying and possession of firearms.
Two Venezuelan nationals were sentenced to sentences totaling 50 years between them. They were active members of the transnational criminal organization Tren de Aragua, after being involved in crimes of homicide, kidnapping, drug trafficking, violent robberies and illegal possession of firearms, events that occurred since the end of 2021 and over the course of the last three years in the city of Talca.
Identified as Yrvin William José Franco Castillo and José María Martínez, the defendants were accused of participating and perpetrating a series of criminal episodes that occurred in November 2022.
The investigation was led by the Homicide Brigade of the PDI of Talca, who after an exhaustive investigation managed to identify and prove the authorship of those involved, and obtain valuable evidence that was presented at the trial.
Francisco Soto, chief prosecutor of UNAAC, said that “we have dismantled two cells of this criminal organization in our city. In this case, two of the members have been convicted of two crimes of kidnapping and one crime of homicide, events that occurred in Talca in 2022.
“We are quite satisfied with the result of the oral trial and we will continue to fight to detect these criminal organizations, preventing them from entering our region,” said Soto.
