Strike against the “Aragua Train” in Colombia: National Police captured alias “Erik”

The Colombian National Police carried out eight raids on places where clandestine parties were held and drugs were sold, which operated under the guise of being headquarters of union organizations.

In Bogotá, the fight against extortion and crime does not stop. Under the comprehensive security strategy ‘Bogotá Camina Segura’ in the last few hours the authorities managed to capture five dangerous members of the criminal structure ‘Tren de Aragua’, dedicated in the city to extortion, homicides and other multiple crimes.

“Venezuelan Erick Manuel Landaeta Hernández, alias “Eryk”, one of the alleged leaders of that faction in Colombian territory, was captured.”

According to the authorities’ report, the detainee “had criminal influence in the towns of Antonio Nariño and Kennedy, and under the guise of organizing parties with international DJs, he was in charge of managing the criminal finances of the high-value targets of the multi-crime group Tren de Aragua in Colombia.”

In a press conference held on Thursday afternoon, the mayor of Bogotá, Carlos Fernando Galán, recalled that it took four months of investigative work and the interception of 50 telephone lines to close the net.https://d-19478751723048057754.ampproject.net/2410081535000/frame.html

He commented that the Venezuelan arrived in the capital seven years ago and began working as a nightclub security guard; then he rose to become an important logistics operator for the criminal organization, managing businesses that brought in $500 million in monthly profits.

Investigators consider him the right-hand man of Giovanny San Vicente (“Giovanny”), the head of the gang in Colombia, for whom the United States government is offering a three million dollar reward.

The Police Gaula captured “Eryk” during a series of raids on a home and three commercial premises, which operated under the guise of union headquarters, but in which drugs and adulterated liquor were sold during clandestine parties.

During the operation, “the seizure of five firearms (two traumatic), 23 rounds of ammunition of different calibers, cocaine, Tusi, 89 bottles of Popper, more than 60 bottles of adulterated liquor and six cell phones” was achieved, according to the official report.
