Donald Trump promises to end the criminal gang “Tren de Aragua”

Republican Donald Trump on Sunday vowed to expel the “savage” Tren de Aragua gang, a transnational criminal group originating in Venezuela, from the United States at a rally at the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York.
Trump called the Tren de Aragua “one of the deadliest and most ruthless immigrant gangs,” said it is present in the United States, and blamed his rival for the November 5 presidential election, Democrat Kamala Harris.
Some 20,000 people, many of them Latinos, wildly applauded his strongly anti-immigrant speech.
The Tren de Aragua operates in several South American countries and is linked to extortion, homicides, and drug trafficking. According to the Texas government, which recently declared it a terrorist organization, it is also involved in migrant trafficking.
In July, the State Department admitted that the activity of this organization had spread to the United States and offered a reward for three of its members who could be in Colombia and Venezuela.
Trump said that the Tren de Aragua is “unleashing a violent massacre throughout the United States” and promised to “accelerate the expulsions of the Tren de Aragua and of savage gangs like MS-13, which is equally dangerous,” in reference to the feared criminal gang Mara Salvatrucha.
“The United States is now an occupied country, but it will soon cease to be so,” he promised.
He assured that if he wins the elections he will work to impose the death penalty “for migrants who murder an American.”
