7 Venezuelan migrants kidnapped in Tapachula, Mexico

A group of armed men kidnapped 7 Venezuelan migrants, 5 adults and 2 minors, after breaking into a residence located in the Centro neighborhood of Tapachula, Chiapas, Mexico.

The police report indicates that around 9:59 p.m. on Tuesday, November 12, a group of armed men with their faces covered, arrived at a private home located on Sexta Sur, between Cuarta and Sexta Poniente in the Centro neighborhood.

So far, the whereabouts and identities of the victims are unknown. Municipal and state police guarded the place for a few hours to collect evidence about the incident.

On the other hand, seven migrants from Nicaragua, El Salvador and Peru have started a hunger strike at the facilities of the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) in the municipality of Arriaga due to the lack of attention to a complaint they filed.

The migrants, who were previously in Tapachula, took this measure as a protest, accusing the authorities of refusing to receive their complaint for illegal deprivation of liberty in the form of kidnapping or abduction, in addition to extortion and other possible legal implications.
