US President-elect Donald Trump has confirmed the selection of Senator Marco Rubio as Secretary of State for his administration, which will begin on January 20, 2025.

Marco Rubio is a “powerful voice for freedom” and “a fearless warrior who will never back down from our adversaries,” US President-elect Donald Trump said today in a statement about Rubio, who will become the first Latino to hold the position of Secretary of State.

Marco Rubio, the son of Cuban immigrants, is considered a hawk in favor of applying a heavy hand to China and Iran, supports Israel and wants to end the war in Ukraine.

In a statement, Rubio said he will work with Trump “every day to carry out his foreign policy agenda.”

“Under President Trump’s leadership, we will bring peace through strength and always put the interests of Americans and the United States above all else,” he added.
