Following the assassination of a Hamas leader in the Iranian capital, attacks have been carried out by Iran on Israel.
Israeli military officials have reported that Iran has launched missiles towards Israel, according to the AP news agency. It is estimated that the ballistic missiles take around 12 minutes to reach Israeli territory. This situation has generated a high level of alert in the region, as sirens sounded in several areas of Israel as part of the preparation for possible attacks.
The government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had begun its offensive phase against Hezbollah, implementing what the Israel Defense Forces called a “limited ground operation” in Lebanon.
According to the Israeli press, Iran has launched about 200 missiles in the direction of the Hebrew State on Tuesday. Early in the evening, with the impacts of the missiles, Israel has reported few incidents. “There are no reports of injuries from the attack on Israel, except for two minor injuries from shrapnel in the Tel Aviv area and some minor injuries throughout the country as they moved to safe spaces,” the Israeli emergency service Magen David Adom said in a statement.
US President Joe Biden has asked the US Army to help Israel repel the attack, a spokesman for the White House National Security Council said. Washington, in fact, had warned on Tuesday afternoon, a few hours before the attack, of the imminence of the Iranian operation. “The attack was serious and will have consequences,” said an Israeli military spokesman. Israel, in fact, has assured that it will respond to the Iranian attack during the same night from Tuesday to Wednesday.
