The governments of the United States and Brazil highlight the bilateral meeting where they emphasize support for Venezuelan migration.

The Brazilian government has provided support to more than half a million Venezuelan migrants, which was highlighted in a bilateral meeting between representatives of Brazil and the United States.
According to data from the International Organization for Migration (IOM), a United Nations agency, 1,134,532 Venezuelan migrants entered Brazil between January 2017 and July 2024.
The data was revealed during the celebration of the first Bilateral Dialogue focused on Migration Policies, Humanitarian Issues and Refugee Protection and in which it was reported that Operation Welcome “has helped the country receive and integrate more than 500,000 Venezuelans since 2017.”
In a joint statement, the US State Department also indicated that both delegations focused their efforts on strengthening strategies to reduce irregular immigration, so they continue to focus on supporting cities and small communities that host Venezuelan migrants.
According to data from the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR), more than 7.7 million Venezuelans have left their country in just over five years fleeing the economic and humanitarian crisis, of which more than 6 million have been welcomed in countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.
When announcing the meeting, the US reported that the Undersecretary of State for Civil Security, Democracy and Human Rights, Uzra Zeya, would lead the meeting, accompanied by other high-ranking officials.
The Brazilian side was expected to be represented by the Secretary of Multilateral Political Affairs, Carlos Márcio Bicalho Cozendey and the Director of the Department of Migration, Luana Medeiros, among others.

In Brazil, there are 477,493 thousand Venezuelan migrants and refugees; Approximately 94,500 thousand have requested refugee status, of which 50,000 thousand have been granted refugee status.
Of the Venezuelan migrants in Brazil, 89,538 thousand are men and 82,926 thousand women, 57% have a secondary education level and 4,000 thousand belong to indigenous communities.
46% of Venezuelan parents in the South American giant Brazil have left their minor children in Venezuela. Some 448 people reported having received less than agreed for the work performed and 96 indicated not having received any payment.
35% of the migrant and refugee population from Venezuela has difficulty accessing health care in Brazil. 77% of malaria cases in Brazil were Venezuelan.
There was an attempt to deport 450 members of the Warao indigenous community, but the deportation was suspended by a court decision.
