Migrants in caravan stitch their lips in protest!

The caravan of more than 6,000 migrants has walked nearly 41 km from Tapachula to the municipality of HUIXTLA where they have been spending the night for the past day. After 4 days of constant walking, caravan leader Irineo Mujica added:

HUIXTLA.- Migrants stitch their lips to pressure the national migration institute (INAMI) to obtain transit permits.

The caravan of more than 6,000 migrants has walked nearly 41 km from Tapachula to the municipality of HUIXTLA where they have been spending the night for the past day. After 4 days of constant walking, caravan leader Irineo Mujica added:

“We are carrying out an act of protest so that the government takes care of us, the migrants are sewing their lips in a form of demand since the only thing we ask for is the migratory transit forms.”

Around 10 migrants had their lips stitched, including 3 women from the state of Honduras, where they were treated by an activist from the organization “Health Promoter (SESIC-MTM) Madre Tierra Mexico,

The migrants will wait for a response from the Mexican authorities to be able to obtain a transit permit.
