San Antonio Texas. – At least 46 migrants were found dead Monday asphyxiated inside a truck in a dry cargo box in San Antonio Texas on Quintana Avenue.
Authorities have confirmed that another 16 people were rescued and found in different conditions and were immediately transferred to city hospitals. 12 of them are adults and four are children.
The truck was found in an abandoned area near some train tracks south of San Antonio. Different emergency teams went to the scene after receiving the call to 9 11 around 5:51 local time.
“A worker in a building that was in the back heard a cry for help and as a result of hearing continuous screams he went out to investigate and found the tractor and the semi-open doors and found several people dead” this was narrated during the press conference by San Antonio Police Chief William MacManus.
Texas Governor Gregg Abbot posted on his social media and said this; “ At least 42 people were found dead inside a truck carrying migrants in Texas. These deaths are on Biden. They are the result of his deadly open border policies. They show the deadly consequences of their refusal to enforce the law.”
Numerous trucks are known to leave the southern gate of Mexico in the Tapachula part of Chiapas smuggling migrants and many of them have been discovered in Veracruz. The latest tragedy occurred on December 9, 2021 where 55 migrants who were trafficked behind a tractor-trailer lost their lives as the driver lost control on a curve in Tuxtla in Chiapa de Corzo.
The number of migrants who have died in their attempt to reach the American dream in parts of the Darien jungle has increased greatly in the year 2022 as well as migrants who have died in their attempt to cross through the Arizona desert.
International organizations are expected to intervene to help the families of the migrants who died in this tragedy in San Antonio, Texas.
